Agreement signed with regional centers to maintain EB-5 projects

A settlement agreement was filed between the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and regional Immigrant Investor Program centers to re-start the EB-5 Investor Visa Program. This, after the congress stopped the program due to safety concerns.

After 8 months of uncertainty, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service reached an agreement to resume the EB-5 program. The agreement ensures the integrity of the EB-5 program, the protection of investors, and the ability of regional centers to continue to support economic development and job creation. What has been seen as great news among the EB-5 investor community.

USCIS deauthorization of pre-approved EB-5 Regional Centers

In 1990, the U.S. Congress established the EB-5 visa program as a strategy to revitalize the U.S. economy. However, in December 2020, the program was separated from the assignment process and authorized only through June 30, 2021.

This, because over the years, there have been several reports of fraud and malpractice by regional centers. And despite multiple efforts to reform and implement integrity and oversight programs, it finally expired on June 30, 2021.

After an eight-month period, Congress finally agreed on legislation, delivering stability with long-term reauthorization for the regional center program, and implementing significant integrity measures and increased oversight.
